Tantra is the spiritual art of connecting spirit with form.
It is an attitude; leading to a lifestyle of letting go and feeling at
one with the World. Part of this is an acceptance and enjoyment
of one's sensual nature.
Tantra is not a religion but a spiritual path. When religion
becomes involved in such matters, inevitably barriers
are created to the processes of free thought. People who
are adventurous and have an open mind are more likely to
embrace a Tantric lifestyle, while fear and a closed mind
are major inhibitions.
These days Tantric sexual practices are most commonly taken
to mean the learning of techniques intended to achieve more
intense sexual pleasure. In fact there is much more to the
subject than that.
Historically, Tantrism was an Indian cult, a sect of both Hinduism
and Buddhism, dating back to the 7th century, and
possibly even earlier.
It combined magical and mystical elements.
It used sexual procedures to strengthen the religious
group feelings and to help bring about states of
possession by divine powers.
We feel this subject can be considered in three distinctly
separate ways, depending on a person's particular
views and beliefs.
